R - ead various literature and research outputs in your field for you to know the trends and latest concerns therein.
E-xperience your own field. Go out! Be exposed! Observe activities and phenomena. Know the apparent problems, concerns and
possibilities. Communicate with people.
S-elect a research topic that is relevant and significant to your own field, and one that you can work on with your
logistics, know how, and interest.
E -mbark on your activities MOVED, or –
m - otivated
o - ptimistic
v - ision or goal directed
e - nthusiastic and excited, and
d - etermined.
Have a strong passion for what you are about to do. Otherwise, each step of the procedure will just become a drag.
A-rm yourself with the ability and skills to conduct research and to present its outcome.
There are three essentials skills you will need in order to succeed:
- logic and common sense
- communication skills, and
- research literacy
C - onduct research after a sufficient preparation. No turning back after you have started. Focus on your goal.
H - ave a timetable for the entire procedure, and follow it. Procrastination can be your worst enemy.
E - liminate discouragement which is often self-induced. Avoid pessimists. Their attitudes and ways can be contagious. Circumstances can be hitches or opportunities for development as you perceived and deal with them.
R - eview your entire work until it gets polished, and
- ejoice! As a researcher, be happy that you are an agent and advocate of truth.
